Over 100,000 English women made their travels to America on several different ships. Their travels usually took around 5 days. The women brought along clothes, little belongings and memorabilia items, while they left everything else behind in England.
This photo was taken in 1944, as an African American soldier dances with a British Women's Auxiliary Air Force member at Paramount Dance Hall in London. About 1.5 million Americans began showing up in England through 1943 up until D-day.
